Catastrophic bleeding first aid.

This is an excellent course designed for First Aiders who are involved in high-risk working environments. This 3-hour course will provide learners with guidance on catastrophic bleeding control, including dealing with the inherent dangers associated with the use of tourniquets and haemostatic dressings whilst administering first aid in a high risk working environment.

 

Learners must hold a valid First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work certificate in order to attend the course.

Duration

A 3-hour course consisting of theory and practical work.

Syllabus

A range of subjects is covered including:-

• Equipment

• Primary survey

• Catastrophic bleeding

• Haemostatic dressings

• Tourniquets

• Top-to-toe survey

• Environmental issues

• Handover to the emergency services

Certification

Although there is no formal assessment, the trainer will assess each individual ongoing throughout the course and issue a certificate of attendance

Numbers

A maximum of 16 students can be accommodated on this course.

Age limit

Learners must be a minimum of 16 years of age to attend the course.
